Hamid completed his medical training in 1991 at Glasgow University Medical school, achieving a pass with commendation. His postgraduate anaesthetics and critical care training was at the Nuffield Department of Anaesthetics in Oxford where he obtained his FRCA in 1996 and CCT in 1999.
From 1999 - 2000, Hamid worked at the University of Michigan Medical Centre, USA performing anaesthetics for vasular surgery.
Hamid was appointed as a consultant in Anaesthetics and Critical Care at MKUH in 2000. His sub-specialty interests are critical care, airway management and paediatric anaesthesia. Since 2015, he has been the Divisional Director for Surgery.
