NHS 70 MK small

Friends of MKUH and Community

We've been working in Milton Keynes University Hospital since 1979, when we founded The League of Friends of Milton Keynes Hospital. At first, we ran the first the kiosk - later on, we moved to the shop in the main entrance of the hospital. In July 1999 we changed our constitution and name to reflect changes in the NHS as the Hospital Trust and the Primary Care Trust were formed. We became “Friends of Milton Keynes Hospital & Community” and have extended our work into the community of Milton Keynes.

All profits are channeled back into buying medical and non-medical equipment for patients and visitors. We've raised over £1,350,000 for Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to fund a range of projects including:

  • Wheelchairs for main reception and A&E
  • Relative rooms Oncology and A&E
  • Corridor seating and A&E seating and tables
  • Toiletry packs for the Stroke Rehabilitation Unit, the Ambulatory Care Unit and A&E.
  • Making Christmas donations to all wards and departments
  • Organising fundraising events throughout the year, including raffles at Easter and Christmas.
